An evening with Charlie George

Last updated : 16 April 2004 By Chris Parry
O2 present: "At The Double" - an evening of discussion about Arsenal's historic 1971 Double winning season featuring the legendary Charlie George.

Writer, actor and broadcaster Tom Watt relives Arsenal's 1971 double season with the one of Arsenal's all-time legends, Charlie George at the Union Stage, Union Chapel, Compton Avenue, Islington on Thursday 22nd April.

George was the boy from the terraces who went on to play for his heroes and his flamboyant approach - both on and off the pitch - made him loved and loathed in equal measure. One of the games great characters, his defining moment of the Double year was the winning goal in the FA Cup final where his superb strike against Liverpool is remembered for as much for his eccentric celebration as for the strike itself.

Tom and Charlie will look back at the glory, the goals, the characters and will also no doubt compare his era to the current Highbury heroes. Doors open 7:15, kick off 7:45
