Argentine striker strongly linked with move to Arsenal

It looks like Arsene Wenger is continuing his search for a new striker with Vardy choosing to sign a contract extension at Leicester and may have found the answer in Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi

Sky reports that there is strong indications that a move is on the cards.

The 23-year-old Argentine forward was famously a part of the Barcelona youth setup but moved to Sampdoria and then Inter Milan in 2013 for €11.7 million

Icardi, who has Italian heritage and passport was born in Argentina but moved to the Canary Islands when he was six

Icardi has long been linked with moves to the Premier League and the player known for his technique, speed and tactical ability could prove a decent signing

Arsenal would certainly be considered a big step forward for the career of Icardi who despite playing in a struggling team is showing goalscoring consistency

The side of his game that does let him down is his link-up play and is more known for his positional instincts and eye for goal which could provide something a little different

A bid of £20m is thought to be enough and with Giroud set to turn 30 this year and the continued injury concerns with Welbeck there is certainly a requirement.

Exposure to the Champions League and playing with other quality players will certainly help the player improve the weaker areas of his game.

West Ham and Manchester United have both shown interest in the player with United reportedly having a 30million euro bid rejected in February 2016.
