Arsenal and Theo Walcott have breakthrough in contract talks

Walcott told Arsenal officials when negotiations re-commenced last month that although he is willing to lower his salary demands to ?90,000 a week, he still craves a center forward role, despite his impressive performances on the wing this season.

Arsenal are willing to higher their salary offer from ?75,000 a week to ?80,000 a week, with Arsene Wenger also believed to have promised the forward playing time in the central striking role. The breakthrough in talks is the firmest indication that Theo WILL sign a new deal at Arsenal, with a five year deal on the cards.

Meaning by the age of 27, Walcott would have played for Arsenal for over 10 years. Having always dreamed of being like Thierry Henry, and with this new, long term deal set to be signed ? he would further cement himself as an Arsenal legend, especially considering the recent exodus over previous transfer windows at Arsenal.

Theo currently is the leading goal scorer for Arsenal this season, with 9 in all competitions. He clearly has the ability to play upfront, and with only Olivier Giroud on the cards as a center forward, Wenger may utilize Walcott's pace and direct running to crack down opposing defences.

Walcott himself has said: ?It is a case of having trust in me up front.?

?I was signed as a striker and it is about time, I want to play up front. I have learnt my game on the wing. When you look at what I did last year I think I can do even more. Hopefully I will be given the opportunity. I am desperate for it.?

Arsene Wenger has said that 'the club have until the end of December to sort this out' ? with Arsene desperate to keep him, and Walcott seemingly desperate to play upfront for Arsenal, a deal could be done just in time to ensure a Merry Christmas for all Arsenal fan's out there.

Should Theo Walcott sign for Arsenal, or join another side?
