Arsenal Ladies go for double glory at Highbury

Last updated : 11 May 2004 By Katie Willis

The match will prove decisive as to where this season's trophy goes, with any one of Arsenal, current holders Fulham or League leaders Charlton winning the title. Victory will respectively hand either Arsenal or Fulham the title while a draw on the day will hand the honours to Charlton Athletic.

Arsenal Ladies have won five Premier League titles in their 16 year history, along with six FA Women's Cup trophies - the sixth added on Bank Holiday Monday following a 3-0 win over London rivals Charlton. Should the Ladies notch up a 10th successive League win on Saturday 15th, the team will land the League and Cup 'double'.

Faye White, Arsenal Ladies captain said: "This is a massive game for the Club, and we are hoping home advantage will give us that extra edge to clinch the 'double'. The men's team will be receiving their League trophy a couple of hours before at the Leicester game, so we hope to make this a true double celebration by adding the League title to the Cup Final win last Monday. The team needs as much encouragement as possible, so please get along to Highbury and show your support!"

Entry to this match will be FREE to all spectators, via the West Upper Stand. Supporters wanting to attend the match will be allowed access once crowds have cleared following the men's match against Leicester and subsequent trophy presentation.
