Arsenal Name Price for Juventus to Sign Aaron Ramsey in January Despite Free Transfer Agreement

Arsenal have reportedly told Juventus that it will cost them £18m, if they wish to sign midfielder Aaron Ramsey during the January transfer window.

With Ramsey's contract set to expire at the end of the season, he has already reportedly agreed a deal to join Juventus at the end of the season. However, there have been many rumours suggesting that the Serie A leaders are keen to bring Ramsey to the club as soon as possible, and they would have to strike a deal with Arsenal if they were to do so.

Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal are reluctant to part ways with Ramsey and, according to the Mirror, they have told Juventus that they will allow the Welshman to leave for £18m.

The Gunners are keen to sign a replacement for the central midfielder, and would be keen on reinvesting the money on a new player. Barcelona's Denis Suarez has been heavily linked with a move to the club, and Arsenal could move for the Spaniard if they can sell Ramsey this January.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via the Mirror), Juventus are reluctant to part with such a figure, given they are set to sign the midfielder for free at the end of the season. Instead, they have proposed a swap deal which would see defender Medhi Benatia move to the Emirates Stadium.

Benatia has been linked with Arsenal after falling out of favour at Juventus, but it remains to be seen whether Arsenal would be prepared to accept such a deal.

Medhi Benatia

The Morocco international has made just five Serie A appearances this season, and he has not made a league appearance since the 2-0 victory over AC Milan in early November. Massimiliano Allegri has favoured a pairing of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, whilst 24-year-old Daniele Rugani has also been ahead of Benatia in the pecking order.

Arsenal have struggled greatly with defensive injuries this season, with the likes of Rob Holding and Laurent Koscielny being forced into significant periods on the sidelines. Following the 1-0 loss to West Ham United on Saturday, Unai Emery's side have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six Premier League games, prompting many fans to demand reinforcements.
