The classy French defensive midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has been a player that Wenger has followed from his time at Lens and during a spell in Spain

Monaco have put a hefty price tag on the 22-year-old but that doesn't seem to be putting off interest from a number of parties including Inter who have already made an enquiry according to a reports.

The Gunners are understood to be in an advanced stage having already lodged a £25.7m bid say Calciomercato putting the Inter interest in the shade

The players versatile defensive capabilities will be particularly useful to Wenger given his side's defensive slips and provide a lively interceptor who also has the skill to carry the ball upfield.

Kondogbia famously scored against Arsenal in the Champions League round of 16 first leg in February 2015, a match that Monaco won 3-1

Kondogbia is noted for his ability to play as a defensive midfielder, Central defend or left back.

Kondogbia joined the French international setup in 2013 and has earned 3 caps to date.

Wenger is also interested in Morgan Schneiderlin but it seems that Manchester United are favourites to sign the player.
