Arsenal swoop for Newcastles Cabaye

Sky Sport News is reporting "from it's sources", that an official bid has been submitted, although those sources are not named, nor is the value of the bid. Newcastle would be loath to part with the French midfielder who has made 73 appearances in the last 2 seasons for the club.

Cabaye is a box-to-box midfielder however, and this might raise some eyebrows as it is defense where many think Arsenal need to improve, having finished the game against Villa with Ramsey and Podolski in their makeshift back four. Cabaye's range of passing is excellent though, and would provide competition at freekicks.

This might placate the Arsenal fans a little, but falls far short of what most think is required. Without improvements throughout the squad, the game against Spurs on September 1st could turn into something similar to the massacre handed out by Manchester United a couple of seasons back, and any additions now are already too late for the Champions League games against Fenerbahce.
