Arsenal v Chelsea - Player Ratings

Maybe not the most fluent performance but the sight of William Gallas scoring against his old mob could possibly only be rivalled by the look on Peter Kenyon's face when explaining again to his billionaire meglomaniac owner why it was a good idea to swap a quality centre back for a whining, not-as-good-as-he-used-to-be left back.

Manuel Almunia - 7 - Dealt with Shevchenko's shot at the end of the first half in the manner of someone seeing a football for the first time but an outstanding second half more than made up for it.

Bacary Sagna - 8 - Outstanding defensively on the ground and in the air - such an impressive buy.

Kolo Toure - 7 - Seems to have reined in his rampant runs upfield but solid and reliable like a normal centre back.

William Gallas - 8 - Dear scriptwriter - Can I have something that tops the United game - thanks Bill.

Gael Clichy - 8 - MofM on Sky may have been a reward too far but his anticipation and surging runs were vital to our cause.

Emmanuel Eboue - 7 - A genuine threat and not just to John Terry's ankle. Shame he couldn't escape Joe Cole's third lunge of the game at him and will miss a few weeks.

Cesc Fabregas - 7 - May have been off the pace after his absence but more than a match for the much lauded Lampard (not sure that's a compliment though).

Mathieu Flamini - 9 - His finest game for the club, tackling opponents and screaming at his teammates with equal ferocity.

Tomas Rosicky - 7 - Ran and tackled and ran and tackled like an old-fashioned defensive midfield player - shame he was on the wing really.

Alexander Hleb - 7 - Not at his best in a crowded midfield area.

Emmanuel Adebayor - 8 - Desperately unlucky to have his goal ruled out and gave Chelsea's back four torrid time. Also first player to kick Cashley - well done Ade.

Substitutes:

Robin van Persie - 7 - Made a difference up front but should have finished Chelsea off .

Gilberto Silva - 6 - Poor Gilberto.

Nicklas Bendtner - 6 - Not much time to make an impression.
