Arsenal v Manchester City - Player Ratings

Last updated : 06 April 2009 By Luis Anaconda

Manuel Almunia - 7 - Pretty much what you expect from him these days. Alert when he needed to be.

Bacary Sagna - 7 - Nice of Robinho to take the day off, allowing Bacary the freedom of the right flank. He put in a few testing crosses as well, but must have been the most frustrated player on the pitch after several lung-bursting runs upfield were ignored.

Kolo Toure - 7 - Had Bellamy in his pocket for 90 minutes and found time to test Given after a great run.

William Gallas - 7 - Bar the one time we were cut open down the left, he made this defending lark look easy.

Gael Clichy - 6 - His slip almost cost us dear in the first half, though in his defence it was far enough up the field to give other players time to cover him. The new system seemed to leave him more exposed than usual.

Alex Song - 8 - A superb flicked pass to Arshavin aside, Alex impressed most in his primary role shielding the back four and allowing the ball players to play.

Denilson - 7 - Covered the ground brilliantly and was tenacious in not allowing City time on the ball.

Theo Walcott - 6 - Lively, brave, but a touch Lennon-esque with the final ball.

Cesc Fabregas - 8 - How could we not miss Cesc? Showed why he is pretty much irreplaceable, culminating with the perfect through ball for Ade's second goal.

Andrey Arshavin - 6 - A quiet game for the Russian (after playing 180mins for his country the previous week - thanks Guus), and he did rather leave Gael exposed in the first half.

Emmanuel Adebayor - 7 - It took the idiot behind me less than 50 secs to slag off Ade on Saturday - he must really have missed him. Anyway the first goal shut him up and the excellence of the second was an encouraging sign of confidence from a player who has struggled to reach last season's heights.

Substitutes:

Nicklas Bendtner - 7 - Encouraging signs and one supreme piece of control.

Emmanuel Eboue - 7 - Took up where Theo left off.

Aaron Ramsey - 6 - Promising stuff.
