Arsenal v Twente - Player Ratings

Last updated : 29 August 2008 By Luis Anaconda

And to be fair they did with some impressive performances all round and goals from Nasri, Gallas, Walcott and Bendtner. Newcastle may prove a sterner test on Saturday.

Manuel Almunia - 3 - Nothing to do but failed to impress when once again he remained rooted to his line on a set-piece grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Bacary Sagna - 5 - Not troubled defensively, but could have done better with a few crossing opportunities.

William Gallas - 6 - Obviously bored so headed up field to score. In control at the back.

Johan Djourou - 6 - Barely noticed him which was sign that he had a quiet but effective game.

Gael Clichy - 6 - A bundle of energy as ever but was caught out a couple of times late on.

Theo Walcott - 8 - Excellent first half in which he gave the left back nightmares, and a very well-taken goal in the second to round things off.

Denilson - 7 - Started off wearing the strange shape boots that make him hit the ball anywhere but where he wants it, but picked himself up, kept things simple and provided an excellent assist for the fourth goal.

Cesc Fabregas - 7 - Class - welcome back.

Samir Nasri - 7 - Only a half, but enough to show what an exciting talent he is - and he shoots…

Robin van Persie - 6 - Very lively up front but really can't find his shooting boots.

Nicklas Bendtner - 6 - God loves a trier and while nothing he seemed to do came off (Nik, that is not God, who seems quite successful), he was rewarded with a goal thanks to some excellent work.

Substitutes:

Emmanuel Eboue - 7 - Not the hardest game but he impressed with his direct running. Some fans are unwilling to give him a chance, but tough - Arsene will and it looks as if he can repay that faith.

Emmanuel Adebayor - 6 - Looked lively after a spell on the bench.

Alexandre Song - 7 - Looked in tune with the rest of the team. What? OK I'll get my coat.
