Capital One Cup Top Priority for Arsenal

A lot has been said about Arsenal in recent seasons. While the Gunners have not been title challengers in recent seasons, qualification for the Champions League has been quantified as a resounding success. How the club has fallen from grace is baffling, especially considering, it has happened during the tenure of one manager, Arsene Wenger. While consistency remains a key issue, many questionable aspects need a rethink this summer, which promises to be the most important one in the clubs history.

The forthcoming season presents an opportunity for the gunners to finally end the eight year trophy drought. While Arsenal is a club that believes in the highest standards and aims for the top prizes, a rethink on categorizing the importance of each competition is required. For some, the Capital One Cup would rank at the bottom on the list of priorities, however for Arsenal, it represents an ideal opportunity to end the trophy drought.

Qualifying for the Champions League for 16 consecutive years is a magnificent achievement, yet for the Arsenal players the hunt for silverware still continues. The feeling of lifting a trophy (even the Capital One Cup) and celebrating in front of their fans could be just the required incentive which can drive the club to greater success.

Players who have left the club in recent years have cited the lack of silverware being the main reason for their departure. The exodus is sure to continue till the club attain silverware and, there is no greater opportunity then the Capital One Cup next season.
