These are sentiments that I entirely endorse.
But in tonight's Evening Standard the bug-eyed old fart is at it again, accusing Mr Wenger of whinging and whining all the time about the Chavs. He even goes on to question why we should drip off his (Mr Wenger's) every word and asks why can't anyone shut him and that prat with the Amex card up before they heap more shame on themselves and their employers? What an absolute Nelsonian character Mellor is! Surely working (if writing crap can be considered work) in the media as he does, he realises that every word Wenger has said about Mr Modesty or his ‘Want that one' Club is in response to questions asked by various journalists at various press conferences. Le Boss gives honest answers every time and because we live in a democracy he is entitled to do so because we have this thing going for us called ‘freedom of speech'. Arsene Wenger doesn't work for MUTV so he isn't censored when he has something interesting to say. Arsene Wenger is also a man of great intelligence so he hasn't found the need to be snide or downright abusive about God's gift to shabby coats by way of petty retaliation, instead he tells it like he sees it. A more interesting question for Mellor to have posed would been to ask Mr Paranoid why he found it necessary (and where did he get the time) to collate a 120-page dossier on what Le Boss has allegedly said about Chelski, knowing full well that the media have twisted most of Wenger's quotes to suit themselves. Now of course it could just be that Maureen Yo is a total liar and there is no actual dossier. After all it seems he lied about events in Barcelona, it seems he lied about being at a meeting to tap up Ashley Cole and his boss is about as trustworthy as a Russian Oligarch. As of course is his self professed Manure supporting CEO who shat on his previous Club at the drop of a wad.
When Wenger questioned the moral leadership of the Chavs he did so as a man who has experienced cheating in football at the highest level, it happened when he was with Monaco and his Club were denied the Championship by a bent chairman at Marseilles. Surely now when he's up against a Club whose CEO openly taps up players from rival Clubs and the owner approaches fully employed international managers he has ever right to question the moral leadership in SW6. Abramovich acquired his money by very dubious means if some things I've read about his financial empire are to be believed and you have to suspect his real reasons for leaving Russia if that is the case. Abramovich's current financial status certainly wasn't achieved by a code of moral ethics that most reasonable people in the West would consider being honest and above board.
