French international right back Mathieu Debuchy is about to become Bacary Sagna's replacement.

The Newcastle player has reportedly successfully completed a medical and the deal is as good as done.

Newcastle are looking for £11m - a ridiculous fee given they only paid half that to Liile when they bought him.

Where does this leave Carl Jenkinson? - out in the cold by the loos of things. Diehard Gooner Jenkinson won't be best pleased about being used as a makeweight in a deal that'll bring in a player who fills the same role, but that seems to be the way of the world these days.

Loyalty goes both ways when it suits both parties - simple as that. We all bleat about players having no loyalty to their clubs anymore, but it's fair to say that clubs don't show the same loyalty to players either.

Emotional stuff aside, Debuchy is potentially a better player than young Carl, so that's what counts.

All we need to do now is sort out reinforcements in the other positions that are lacking quality.
