Former Gunner advises Nigerian wonderkid to join Arsenal

The promising attacking midfielder became a nightmare for Mexico?s defenders, netting four goals in Nigeria?s 6-1 triumph. The Super Eagles won the tournament and Iheanacho was awarded the Golden Ball from Sepp Blater.

Scouts from all over the world traveled to the United Arab Emirates aiming to discover the new stars of world football. Arsenal?s Steve Rowley was among them and he was pretty impressed by the Nigerian midfielder.

Kelechi Iheanacho, who is currently playing for Taye Academy in his homeland, has attracted interest from numerous clubs around Europe. The youngster?s mentor is Nwankwo Kanu, who attended the final in Abu Dhabi and had a long chat with him after the final.

Kanu had also made his mark in the U-17 World Cup, joining Ajax afterwards and establishing a name in European football. He later moved to Inter Milan, before joining the Gunners. He is said to have advised Kelechi Iheanacho to pick Arsenal over any other competitors, strongly believing that working under the guidance of Arsene Wenger will help the youngster improve his skills. He obviously has the potential?
