Middlesbrough v Arsenal - Player Ratings

I'm sure all gooners groan when they see old mother Riley's name appear as ref for our games. Yet again he got a big decision wrong when adjudging that Senderos pulled Yakubu down in the box. Even giving Riley the benefit of doubt as to whether Senderos's hand resting on Yakubu's shoulder was enough to send him tumbling to the ground the "foul" was clearly committed outside the box.

To rub salt into our wounds Adebayor had a goal chalked off, harshly in my opinion, for offside. Isn't the attacker meant to get the benefit of the doubt these days?

Lehmann - 7 - He gets an extra mark for his fine save that kept us in the game when we were 1-0 down followed by setting up the move for our equaliser. The downside was he nearly got himself sent off when demonstrating for far too long over the penalty and sending off of Senderos. This lead to a 5 minute spell where he was clearly rattled and saw him flapping at crosses.

Hoyte - 6 - Quiet game for Justin and got caught out of position on a couple of occasions. (Denilson 80)

Toure - 8 - Our best defender yet again and drove forward as per normal when he could.

Senderos - 6 - He was having a good game up until his sending off, looked comfortable alongside Toure and was unlucky with a poor decision by Riley.

Clichy - 7 - Another solid display and shows good pace and technique on his many runs forward.

Flamini - 5 - Although unquestionably a workhorse and an important squad player it is when he is on the pitch for 90 minutes that his limitations are exposed. Too many of our flowing moves come to a grinding halt when the ball goes through Mathieu.

Fabregas - 6 - Looked a little jaded which is understandable and uncharacteristically gave the ball away on a few occasions.

Gilberto - 5 - Looks as though his enforced break has left him a little rusty, he followed up his average performance in midweek with one of his poorest for a while, his passing was well off the radar tonight.

Rosicky - 7 - Looked lively as ever and helped out defensively. Got in some dangerous shots on goal.

Adebayor - 7 - Worked hard enough, chased everything and held the ball up well, unlucky to have a goal cancelled out when adjudged offside in a borderline decision. (Aliadiere 86),

Henry - 7 - His all important goal gets his mark up from a 6. That aside our skipper was very quiet and caused very little trouble to the Boro defence.

Subs

Denilson - 5 - (80) Not on for long enough to make an impact but good to see him getting inclusion in the senior set up.

Aliadiere (86) No mark not on long enough.

Subs Not Used: Djourou, Almunia, Walcott.
