PSV Eindhoven v Arsenal - Player Ratings

Last updated : 21 February 2007 By Luis Anaconda

Confused by playing the Mighty Arsenal, the appeared to think they were the away team and as such their goal should count double, whatever that means.
Of course, the Dutch league leaders and Champions League semi-finalists all of two years ago don't really much help but they received plenty from Arsenal last night. A bright(ish) first half performance was replaced by a lacklustre second, with far too many players off their game. Reminiscent of far too many European days past.

Jens Lehmann - 5 - Only tested by long shots but beaten by an excellent strike that he may have felt he should have saved.

William Gallas - 5 - The sooner he gets back into the centre of defence the better. One of the worst culprits for wasting possession.

Gael Clichy - 6 - Injected pace and width into our attacks when he could but was exposed at the back on several occasions.

Kolo Toure - 6 - Good tussle with Kone, his compatriot, but unable to add his usual dynamism going forward.

Philippe Senderos - 5 - Not much to do but managed one comedy piece of defending that brought a booking.

Alexander Hleb - 5 - At the risk of upsetting his devoted following he was just poor.

Francesc Fabregas - 6 - Far from his best and now a fully paid up member of the Arsenal crap corner takers club.

Gilberto Silva - 5 - It may be harsh to say it but Mendes's strike came from a rather large holding-midfield-player-sized hole in front of our defence.

Tomas Rosicky - 7 - Better than most, looked lively and came close to scoring, but also gave the ball away far too much.

Thierry Henry - 6 - Glimpses of his best when he had a volley saved and then curled another shot just over. We expect so much more though.

Emanuel Adebayor - 6- A willing runner as ever but lacked the nous to get past a very good PSV defence.

Sub:

Julio Baptista (75) - 5 - A free kick on target but little else.
