Sagnas departure could be a massive loss to Arsenal

It?s true; no assessment can be made after watching a single game. Yet, Bacary Sagna?s performance against Sunderland was truly world class. After a double leg break last season, it has taken the France international some time to find form and, after questionable performances (recently admitted) he seemingly is getting back to his best. In a recent interview he said, ?I?m 100% devoted to my club. I?m only thinking about defending in Arsenal colours until the end of my contract.?

Since joining Arsenal in the summer of 2007, Sagna has been one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, thus gaining the plaudits of Arsenal?s manager, Arsene Wenger. His importance cannot be understated, as he has been instrumental in the functioning of Arsenal?s right wing either in attack or defense. However, Wenger has already identified an alternative in Carl Jenkinson, another young prospect for the future. Although Jenkinson?s performances have shown promise, his lack of experience has also been evident.

In recent years, several top players have left the club and Wenger has been left to rebuild & restart. Sagna has been a pillar for Arsenal in the last couple of years and maybe can continue to do so for a few more.
