Steaua Bucharest v Arsenal - Player Ratings

Robin van Persie did the business again but there was a lack of spark for much of the game. Perhaps the extra day's grace til Sunday's game is not a bad thing.

Manuel Almunia - 6 - Some scary misunderstandings with his back four don't instil confidence even if he was rarely tested. If Jens is fit (physically and mentally) then he surely has to come back.

Bacary Sagna - 7 - Solid if unspectacular - pretty much summed up the whole night.

Kolo Toure - 6 - Got caught under the high ball that should have led to a goal for Steaua, but excellent after that.

Philippe Senderos - 8 - Superb all night - alert to the danger and didn't throw himself into tackles he couldn't win as he has been prone to in the past.

Gael Clichy - 6 - Provided a wonderful outlet on the left but couldn't find a target in the box with his crosses.

Emmanuel Eboue - 5 - Poor - at least the effort was there tonight but posed little threat.

Cesc Fabregas - 6 - Gave the ball away too often which is a shock coming from him and probably could have benefited from a break when we were 1-0 up.

Mathieu Flamini - 7 - Like Senderos an underrated player who is performing well. Still some wild tackles though.

Alexander Hleb - 6 - Starting on the left for a change he seemed desperate to come in field - even more desperate than when he is on the right.

Emmanuel Adebayor - 7 - Not unlike Saturday his performance was a mixed bag but his tireless running paid dividends in the end. Needless booking though.

Robin van Persie - 7 - Struggled to get into the game but never stopped looking for the ball and was rewarded with a tap-in (by his standards).

Gilberto Silva - 7 - Calming presence - my god déjà vu…
