Suarez Snub and the two alternatives for Arsenal

Last updated : 15 August 2013 By DSG

Reports in Suarez's native Uraguay claims the 26 year old will in fact sign a new deal at Anfield, and Sky Bet have reacted by making him odds-on at 1-3 to stay at Brendan Rodgers side for next season.

So despite Arsenal rumoured to be planning a bid near the ?50,000,000 mark for Suarez, it seems he in destined to stay at Liverpool, and help them push for a coveted Champions League place next season. Arsenal seem to have made a striker there main priority this season, but this is the latest setback in their search. Wenger has already seen a bid to bring Gonzalo Higuain to the Emirates fail, the Real Madris star choosing Napoli instead.

Arsenal have compiled extensive scouting networks on two Premier League strikers as they re-align their sights in attempts to bring in a striker.

Spaniard Michu is one of the two under report, he has had a dream debut season in the Premier League at Swansea. A snip at ?2million, under Michael Laudrup's Swansea his price-tag has soared, as he bagged 18 goals and helped the Welsh club win the league cup. Arsenal are all too aware of the 27 year olds abilities. When the two sides met in the Emirates last December he bagged a brilliant brace as Swansea won 2-0 in the league enounter. Michael Laudrup will want to keep his star man at the Liberty Stadium but if Arsenal come calling, a big money offer could be hard to refuse.

The other is Man Citys Bosnian hitman Edin Dzeko, who I believe is the more likely to join Wenger at the Emirates. Also 27, Dzeko will see his chances limited at Eastlands this season, the arrivals of Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic mean alongside Sergio Aguero there is serious competition for places up front. He is a aerial threat with great finishing abilities, and Manuel Pelligrini might consider bids in the region of ?20-25 million for the former Wolfsburg man.
