He is still recovering from the groin strain sustained on International duty.

The suspended Jens Lehmann will be replaced by Manuel Almunia, with on-loan signing Mart Poom as backup.

Expect Wenger to wield the axe where the defence is concerned. Following the woeful performance at Middlesbrough Sol is likely to return alongside Senderos.

Wenger has already warned against complacency on Wednesday, saying:

"We are super-favourites but don't forget they have already created huge upsets in knocking out Malmo and Dynamo Kiev. Don't forget that it will be the game of the century for them. It will be important for us to have a high tempo and not think we will automatically win.

"They have six Brazilian players, one or two Yugoslavs, two good Swiss players and they are top of the league with Basel, who have had good results in Europe. I admire them, although I don't understand how they have done it. They must have good scouts as Thun is nearly a village!"
