The Big'un @ The Rocket! This Saturday!

Last updated : 12 December 2006 By Ben Dimech
Qualifying top of our Champions League group, earning a point at Stamford Bridge while reminding one or two of them what's what and looking forward to seeing the boys consolidate 3rd place in the league while planning the next stage in our European Tour!

As a lot of you know, on Saturday 2nd December, we proudly hosted a Q&A and book signing with Perry Groves. That day we broke significant records as we had well over 1,000 Arsenal fans through the doors over the course of the day and at one point, the foundations were rocking as we had a 650 capacity making full use of both upstairs (which showed Sky Sports News and live Premiership scores) and downstairs (which re-ran the 3-0 spanking of Spurs). None too shabby for a football pub!

This Saturday sees The Rocket once again serving up all sorts of entertainment pre and post Pompey. Our doors open at midday where we'll have Charlton vs Liverpool on the big screen and also the Away Boyz in attendance. The lads will be playing live tracks from their forthcoming album "The New Generation" featuring a little Lily Allen cover that we've been assured is topical and will go down particularly well with the Gooners!

After the match, we see the climax to something we've been working very hard on recently. Our long-awaited Christmas party. Here's what's on the agenda:

- live band "The Most" performing covers of old favourites
- a second live band, namely "The REDaction All Stars"
- three DJs spinning Mod, Indie, Ska, Rock and all that good stuff
- a raffle (items include: subscriptions to The Gooner, t-shirts, champagne among other things!)
- an auction (items include: Arsenal shirt signed by the players, an Arsenal Pennant signed by the players, a picture of Highbury signed by Bruce Rioch, Don Howe, George Graham, Terry Neill, and Arsene Wenger)
- several former Arsenal greats who, subject to availability, will be mingling with fans for festive beerage
- hot food and cold beer!
- Carling will be £2 a pint between 5pm and 7pm.

We will be upstairs between 12 and 3pm, and then downstairs after the match.

Entry is £5 and all profits go to our charity of the season, The Willow Foundation. Over 200 tickets have been sold in advance and you can get yours before the Pompey match or you can pay on the door. Capacity is limited to 350 for this event so secure your place.

Those of you who are making it up to the rugby ground on Wednesday for our game in hand, please check out our away guide.

The Rocket: Please note that due to the entry policy in place, no under-14s will be admitted. 14-17 year-olds must be accompanied by an adult. Home fans with any type of home memberships/tickets are welcome as are their guests!

The Rocket is open every weekend home match. At present, it will not be available for weekday matches.
