Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal - Player Ratings

Last updated : 25 January 2007 By Clive Dickman

With Cesc driving the team on from midfield it was left to the beast to literally bulldoze his way through the bewildered Tottenham back four.

In then end we should have nicked it with Walcott missing a good chance late on but I don't think anyone can have any complaints with a great result which sets us up nicely for the second leg.

Almunia - 7 - Confusion between him and Toure led to their opening goal but he made up for his error with some fine handling and a couple of decent saves.

Hoyte - 7 - One of our more experienced players tonight which just goes to show what a great bunch of young players we have at the club. Great run and ball across for our equaliser.

Toure - 7 - I'm sure he will be disappointed at this defending for the first goal, but got it together for the remainder of the game.

Senderos - 7 - Caught napping a couple of times but also caused problems to them at set pieces.

Traore - 7 - Looks a decent player in the making, great touch as you would expect from a Wenger type player, will need to sharpen up on his defensive duties in the longer term.

Denilson - 7 - This kid looks the real deal, showed some nice touches and has a solid tackle on him, demonstrated great technique with one fierce half volley that flew narrowly wide in the second half.

Fabregas - 9 - Drove the team on and dominated the midfield, should have done better with one header straight at Robinson but caused them all sorts of problems whether it was with his sublime passing or his shots on goal, tremendous performance.

Diaby - 6 - Did ok, needs more games to recover fully. (Hleb 56) (Flamini 81)

Baptista - 8 - Poor old Baptista another two goals (three if you count his og) again tonight and still he doesn't get the man of the match award! He really is now finding his feet with us. We can only hope that Madrid will allow us to sign him full time in the summer.

Aliadiere - 6 - No where near up to the form he showed at Liverpool, but worked hard and put himself about.(Eboue 60)

Walcott - 7 - Theo caused them problems with his pace and played a nice one two with Baptista for our first goal, could have won it for us late on.

Subs

Hleb - 5 - (56) looked the part for the short time he was on, another to add to our ever growing injury list.

Eboue - 6 - (60) Busy as ever, got stuck in and got forward.

Flamini - 5 - (81) Helped keep it tight for us at 2-2.

Subs Not Used: Poom, Randall.
