Ukranian travellers - Some useful information for you

As it won't be replaced until he returns he'll be available on the following number in Ukraine:

From Britain: 07708 567178
From Ukraine: 00 44 7708 567178.

Steve tells us he's also been contacted from Ukraine to say some of the information given in his earlier posting with travel information on Ukraine is wrong.

According to his correspondent, Ukrainian is now used at home by around six in ten of the population and that around eight in ten of the population is ethnically Ukrainian with around 17% being Russian, the rest being split between various minorities including Poles, Romanians, Belorussians and Jews. Whatever the truth of the matter what's clear is that the use of Ukrainian was heavily discouraged by both the czarist and Soviet regimes, that written and spoken Ukrainian is undergoing a renaissance with government encouragement following independence, but that much of the media and public and private discourse is still conducted in Russian. Sounds a bit like post Franco Catalonia.

The real reason for posting this to the Arsenal World site, says Steven, is that most Arsenal supporters don't want to give unwitting offence in what is a difficult economic and political climate in contempory Ukraine.

We're happy to post this information and let Arsenal World readers make their own minds up.

So that's it. Forewarned is forearmed. Party on!
