Wenger not happy with continued defensive weakness

"We have dropped two points against Southampton and now West Brom in our last two games at home and that's not good enough. I was frustrated as I felt that the team tried to play well and had a good spirit, but we were guilty of giving a goal away.

"It was a simple cross between the defenders and the keeper, and we had three defenders against one striker, so it was stoppable for a team like ours.

"As long as we couldn't finish the game off, the nerves gained for our defenders. They lost a bit of confidence by conceding four goals at White Hart Lane."

"I feel we're not far from our best again but we need one or two good results and next Wednesday's Champions League tie was already in our minds when we were 1-0 up."

I have to say that the PSV game was on my mind when we were one nil up as well - I was wondering how the hell we're going to get a result out there given the way we're playing at the moment - A major increase in quality will be required. There's no question that we're capable of it, but can the player summon up the mental strength to dig us out of this rut that we seem to be in?
