Wenger revels in Ramseys rich form

It had looked like the 22-year-old's career would never quite recover from a horrific double leg break sustained in a challenge with Stoke's Ryan Shawcross in February 2010.

But, after a few inconsistent seasons, Ramsey is now in the form of his life and on Wednesday evening played a key role in Arsenal's 2-1 win at the Stade Velodrome.

Having seen Theo Walcott open the scoring against the run of play, the Wales international struck home seven minutes from time put the game out of reach for the hosts.

Such is his form, that some have suggested there are few better midfielders in Europe right now.

"I don't know if anybody is playing better," Wenger said when asked about his current form. "For me, I don't look at it like that.

"Aaron is playing well and that is most important, so is that he continues to improve.

"I thought it would be a tricky game here tonight. Before the game I was conscious Marseille would be well focused.

"They know they are not favourites, they had nothing to lose and the French are dangerous when they are in that position.

"I knew it was important to get three points here if we want to have a chance.
