Wigan Athletic v Arsenal - Player Ratings

Last updated : 09 March 2008 By Luis Anaconda

Manuel Almunia - 7 - Dealt with everything that came his way with an increasingly familiar air of competence.

Bacary Sagna - 7 - Some disappointing crossing, but otherwise another excellent display.

William Gallas - 7 - Superb defending combined with theatrics - same old William.

Philippe Senderos - 7 - Could do with winning a few more headers but otherwise solid.

Gael Clichy - 6 - Excellent battle with Valencia that he may have won, but poor with his passing.

Cesc Fabregas - 7 - Given free reign to move in to central positions he produced two sublime first-time passes in the first half and was always the best bet to produce a goal.

Gilberto Silva - 6 - One of his better performances this season but we needed craft not graft in midfield.

Mathieu Flamini - 6 - Not at his best but covered pretty much every blade of grass (which, admittedly, was about five on that disgrace of a pitch).

Alexander Helb - 5 - Struggled more than anyone with the ground and some of his passing was distinctly below standards.

Nicklas Bendtner - 6 - Linked up well with Ade at times, but lacked a final ball or finish that would have made the difference.

Emmanuel Adebayor - 6 - Poor finishing, good goalkeeping, whatever, it was the absence of his usual energy that was most worrying.

Substitutes:

Kolo Toure - 6 - A centre half on at right wing? The world's gone mad.

Robin van Persie - 7 - One sumptuous crossfield ball to Kolo summed up what we have been missing. Please god let him stay fit.
