Rocastle Remembered - Another new record!

Last updated : 20 March 2003 By Dr. Headgear
Thats almost three days more than the previous record, well done!

For those that don't know, the the Grid.org (formerly United Devices) Cancer Research project is a distributed computing system, where simply by downloading the program you can safely and easily contribute your PC's idle time and spare power to performing the billions of chemical calculations needed to screen molecules that have been identified as having potential in cancer treatment. The computing power made available by individuals and companies running this programme on normal PC's is phenomenal, the only other way to get these vital calculations done would be to buy a lot of very expensive time on one of the worlds biggest supercomputers. When you've downloaded the program you can join the David Rocastle Remembered team and add your results to our attempt to honour the memory of an Arsenal legend who was sadly struck down by cancer at the age of just 33.

The team is flying high right now - it's over two weeks since we returned less than 60 days of processing time and we've returned over 100 results every day for almost a fortnight. Our average over the last two weeks has been over 76 days of processing time per day. Thats over a years worth of processing every five days. To date we have contributed neaarly 57 years of processing time.

So to all team members - thanks, and keep up the good work.
