Arsenal v Bolton Wanderers - Player Ratings

Last updated : 29 January 2007 By Clive Dickman

In all honesty we cannot argue about the score and in fact Bolton controlled the game for large spells with one excellent save by Almunia at the feet of Nolan preventing us from going two down.

Our lot was not helped by below average performances by both of our strikers but the day was saved thanks to a Boltonesque goal from action man Kolo Toure.

Almunia - 7 - One moment of indecision almost proved costly but put in another solid display of handling capped off by a fine save at the feet of Nolan

Hoyte - 6 - As with most Wenger defenders Justin looks more comfortable going forward but against the likes of Bolton we need a little bit more than that. (Julio Baptista 70)

Toure - 8 - A tireless performance by surely a guy who will be our future captain. Not only one of our better defenders but looked our most dangerous offensive player too. Thoroughly deserved his headed goal.

Senderos - 6 - Showed a lack of pace and awareness at times but great to see a cynical side of him that we don't normally cherish when bringing down Anelka, which was nice.

Clichy - 8 - Alongside Toure without doubt our best player, looked electric going forward and a tenacious defensive display, who needs Cashley!

Walcott - 6 - We all know what pace this kid has but the truth is he is still finding his feet, looked lightweight at times and seemed to choke when in good positions, including another miss on the half volley when the goal was gaping. (Aliadiere 86)

Fabregas - 7 - When he played well we played well, which basically summed up Cesc's performance, average in the first half dominated the second.

Flamini - 6 - Workmanlike as ever but has this habit of getting in excellent positions but sadly not having a clue what to do when there, a valuable squad member none the less.

Rosicky - 6 - Poor first 45 sublime 30 and then an average 15. Even Brady did that sometimes!

Henry - 6 - One cheeky backhill nearly gave us the lead but up against a team Thierry clearly does not relish playing against saw a subdued 90 minutes from our skipper.

Adebayor - 6 - Shows great enthusiasm but frustratingly showed a poor touch when in promising positions and gave the ball away too easily, did cause a few panics in the Bolton defence.

Julio Baptista - 6 - Really should have scored from a free header in the centre of goal that he screwed wide. But he is looking better and better with every appearance. To nick a term he looks every inch our ox in the box! (70)

Aliadiere - 5 - (86) Has a nice touch but very much a squad player, his late shot was well smothered by Jaaskelainen.

Subs Not Used: Poom, Diaby, Denilson.
