Arsenal v Sheffield United - Player Ratings

Last updated : 25 September 2006 By Cliive Dickman
It really looked as if it was going to be yet another one of those days with lots of possession & Bennett in the Sheffield Utd goal looking unbeatable including one incredible save from a Henry bullet header early on.

Our skipper still looks a little short but it was good to see him Adebayor link up effectively & without the scowls!

Lehmann - 7 - No mad cap antics this week, good handling & distribution of the ball. Fine save late on.

Eboue - 7 - Worked well defensively keeping it tight, he seemed to hold back on his overlapping runs in this game maybe keeping his energy for his excellent cross to Henry for our third goal.

Toure - 7 - He really is our new “Mr Reliable” another solid performance including a fierce drive just wide.

Djourou - 7 - I think this was possibly his best defensive game for us this season.

Gallas - 8 - A fine performance & a calm finish for our opening goal. Could have had two had he not pulled a low drive wide early in the first half. Will be interesting to see how strong our defence will be when he is playing in his best position of centre back.

Ljungberg - 6 - Worked hard but with little end product. I do worry that Freddie will become a fringe player when we have a fully fit squad. Baptista 78)

Fabregas - 7 - The tidy magician seemed to get rattled when harshly booked by the inconsistent Wiley & for a short while I thought he may see red.

Rosicky - 6 - One of his quieter games but once he is fully up to pace with the premier league we will see the best of him (Hleb 71)

Gilberto - 6 - The daddy of our midfield kept it simple & helped protect what little danger there was to our back four.

Henry - 7 - Two headers on target in one game!! Still not at his best but did enough & of course scored our third & best goal of the game with a powerful header.

Adebayor - 7 - I would of given him 8 but as he only played 71 minutes it will have to be a 7. Played very well, holding the ball up when required. Linked well with Henry & caused problems. (Van Persie 71)

Hleb - 6 - Looked lively some nice touches & runs.

Van Persie - 5 - Ineffective but on the pitch for less than 20 minutes

Baptista - 5 - Needs to get used to the pace of the game in this country but looks promising.
