Liverpool v Arsenal - Player Ratings

Last updated : 15 February 2006 By Mike Bohndiek

We played for a point, that much was clear from the off, and it is my belief that this was the right policy given our current away form and their current home form. We defended well, with Kolo leading the line; it was great to see him back. The midfield was disappointing, and did little to help us ease some early pressure.

Lehmann single handedly kept us in it at times, as we struggled to clear our lines, with the penalty save the best moment of an otherwise dire match for travelling Arsenal fans.

We can't really complain about this loss, it was the manor of it that hurt most. Overall we didn't play well enough to deserve a point, but a last minute winner is always cruel.

Jens Lehmann (9) No description needed!

Mathieu Flamini (7) Did well to cope with the threat of Gerrard and Kewell.

Philippe Senderos (6) Some shaky moments, and nearly put through his own net.

Kolo Toure (8) Fought off wave after wave of Liverpool attack.

Emmanuel Eboue (6) Did well, but let Kewell past him easily at times.

Robert Pires (4) Played us into trouble and offered little to the game.

Cesc Fabregas (6) Struggled to cope with the presence of Alonso.

Gilberto (4) A standard Gilberto away day.

Freddie Ljungberg (6) Tried but failed to make an impact.

Emmanuel Adebayour (6) Held up play as much as he could.

Thierry Henry (5) Never a threat to their defence.

Subs:

Alexander Hleb (4) Had no impact on the game and was caught napping for their late goal.
