A top striker is something Arsenal fans have been pining for since former club captain Robin van Persie left Wenger's side for Manchester United

Those fans may be about to see their wish granted with the potential arrival of Lacazette.

The 24-year-old has been prolific this season in France, scoring 31 goals in 40 appearances for Olympique Lyonnais.

Lyon had tried to deter interested parties including Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea by slapping a huge price tag on the striker, but reports now suggest that the clubs stance may have changed, and that they would be willing to sell for a price in the region of £21million.

Contract talks between Lyon and Lacazette are believed to have broken down last week, with the French international requesting a salary of £4.5million if he were to stay at the club he propelled into the Champions League.

"The offers we've had from abroad are very significant in terms of finances," Venditelli said

"Ultimatums and media pressure won't change our demands, which OL are aware of."
