Away Boyz downstairs @ The Rocket on Sunday!

Last updated : 19 January 2007 By Ben Dimech

The lads have been on great form recently and, though we never seem to face Man United at full strength, we're in decent shape coming into this game and the world will be watching!

The Rocket will open its doors to you fellow Gooners at midday on Sunday and there are a few improvements. Following feedback, we're improving the speed of service by staging pints during the busy periods. As you know from the old Clock End and North Bank, this means you get your drinks sorted in about a quarter of the time and you can devote more time to the football feast that is Wigan vs Everton on the big screen at 13:30. However, there's a second option of showing the "Classic Victories Against Man United" DVD so we'll put it to a vote. At around 2:30pm, we'll welcome back the Away Boyz who, after their previous showing before the Pompey game, have been in great demand. People were asking where to get their new album "The New Generation" from so they'll be made available for purchase on the day for a tenner. They'll be peforming several tracks including the Lily Allen cover (which I'm sure you all know by now) featuring Lily's vocal doppelganger Kayleigh. And while we're in the mood, we'll be having an open mic session so feel free to step to the plate and air a song or two.

Doors will open again after the match for those of you who rather have a swift pint than queue for a train for half an hour. DJ Frosty will be spinning some Mod and Brit rock for your listening pleasure. Let's hope there's something to celebrate! The tariff prices will be made clear and will be on display throughout the day so you can see what's what. We also hope to provide you with a better value for money range of food on Sunday too as we've struck a deal with a new caterer! Also, for you smokers out there, we're looking at ways round the no smoking legislation that comes into effect at the start of next season. When the time comes, we have a beer garden at the back of the Rocket so you can sneak off for a quick fag and smoke and drink at the same time. The wonders of the modern era eh? Hope to see both regulars and new faces for a drink up and a sing song!
