Baptista in the bag at last?

There's no question that 23 year-old Baptista would be a superb addition to the squad, provided of course that he arrives with the right attitude.

We have already read that he doesn't want to leave Spain for next season due to red tape involving passports/nationality etcetera, indeed his agent was trying to engineer a move to Barcelona but they appear not to be interested at present. It's also clear that Sevilla want the money that would be generated by his sale, so any deal they do would be a bonus for them.

What we don't want is a player who arrives in London to play for Arsenal, whilst at the same time dreaming of a move to the Nou Camp. Having said that I'm sure that Wenger will want to be one hundred percent satisfied that Baptista is both mentally and physically prepared prior to splashing out what will be a record fee for the club.

There was talk of a huge offer from our friends in N17, but why on earth would Baptista want to move to a footballing backwater when he needs to ply his trade on the big stage prior to the World Cup next summer?

We await further news.
