David Rocastle Remembered - Do your bit to help!

Last updated : 09 October 2002 By Chris Parry

It's easy to install, and it doesn't disrupt your computer - it runs in the background on spare CPU power or runs as a screensaver.

This software allows researchers to screen billions molecules that could play a part in the cure for cancer. The amount of calculations they can do like this would take centuries on a mainframe, at a cost they just couldn't manage. And the whole package won''t cost you a bean.

The site distributing/controlling this software is here, but an enterprising Arsenal fan by the name of Neil Donovan has set up a team called "David Rocastle Remembered" that you can join to add your returned results to his memory. Rocky of course died from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma aged just 33 on 31st March 2001.
