Deadline day looms closer, and still no word on new players.

He would appear to be lumbered with two want-away players in Cole and Reyes, and as yet no deal has been done that will see either player leave the club.

Of course we shouldn't believe what we read in the papers, but it seems that Chelsea won't meet our valuation of Cole, and Athletico Madrid are offering too little for Reyes.

There has also been talk of a raid on Argentina - Mascherano and Teves have both been linked with moves to London - but frankly I don't see it happening unless Arsene banks some cash from sales first.

I still think our best chance of a deal is some sort of swap involving Cole and Gallas - Both clubs are desperate not to be seen to have caved in, and I reckon there might be some sort of face-saving swap deal done with the usual 'undisclosed' top up fee coming from Chelsea that will see the players swap places.

Frankly I'll welcome any new signings provided we are rid of players that don't want to wear the shirt, but I fear that us fans will be asked to build bridges with our two errant players which in my view is taking the piss somewhat.

Let's see what Thursday brings.
