Fulham v Arsenal - Player Ratings

Last updated : 29 November 2006 By Clive Dickman

The only club yet to score in the opening quarter (22 minutes), before tonight!

Conceded the opening goal in nine Premiership matches. Only one other premiership team has a worse record, before tonight!

The opposition has scored first in 10 of their games, not tonight!

The second weakest defence in the League with 20 goals shipped in 14 matches.

5 points out of their last 18 and the icing on the cake Fulham's first win over us in 40 years.

The whole team has to take responsibility for a poor performance but dare I say in particular our captain needs to start showing why his manager rates him the best in the world. One glimmer of hope was the performance of Justin Hoyte who had a stormer.

As fans we now need to get behind the boss & the team. The boss is our most successful manager of all time & has brought us unimaginable joy, for that he deserves time. The team is young & stacked with potential & we do not have the bottomless pit of the circus. Through adversity will come glory but only if we believe in them as much as Wenger does.

Let's hope this is the kick up the backside we need to get everything right for our neighbours "cup final" on Saturday.

Finally, I would love to not have to mention the referee for once, but can you believe this ref (Howard Webb) was the same ref who did the Man U V Chelsea match at the weekend? How many things did he let go there before pulling out a card? Is it one rule when the Sky cameras are covering the game live but a different one when they are not? The bloke is yet another Muppet to add to the merry band of them we are blessed with in the premiership.

Lehmann - 6 - Flamini would have cleared Fulham's opener had Jens not deflected it away from him. Saved us from further embarrassment when saving well from Boa Morte late on.

Hoyte - 7 - The one big positive was the performance by Justin who worked hard, tackled well & got forward when he could.

Toure - 5 - Not at his best & certainly missed the presence of Gallas beside him, one long, high ball caught him napping.

Senderos - 4 - Just looks totally out of his depth at the minute & he was hardly up against a team of heavyweights. A couple of badly timed tackles earn't him two yellow cards & therefore a sending off in the 66th minute. Had he been English he would have probably got away with one of them!

Flamini - 5 - Average from Mr Average, worked hard as always.

Rosicky - 5 - We have missed Tomas but tonight he was fairly quiet. (Walcott 61)

Song - 3 - You kind of hope that the boss knows something we don't & he is going to turn in an unforgettable performance one day, as it stands he is pretty forgettable (Fabregas 46),

Gilberto - 6 - I'm sure the Gilberto knockers will be in full voice as they are everytime we lose a game. He was better than most tonight.

Hleb - 5 - Showed some trickery in snatches. Fouled for the free kick that lead to our goal. (Djourou)

Henry - 5 - I cannot recall such an average run of form from our skipper. It is almost as if his indecision over his future at the club has taken its toll. Missed a sitter late on.

Van Persie - 6 - Fantastic free kick from Robin. But worryingly another goal from set play. As welcome as they are we just can't seem to get any from our normal source of open play.

Subs

Fabregas - 5 - (46) Cesc looked as if he needed the rest, but gave his all in trying to inspire his team mates, but sadly to no avail.

Walcott - 5 - (61) No doubt the kid is quality & worried Fulham in the short space of time he was on the pitch, also hit the woodwork, again!

Djourou - 5 - (65) Good that he got a run out as we now will have both Gallas & Senderos out for crucial games.

Subs Not Used: Almunia, Adebayor.
