Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Takes to Twitter to Praise Ousmane Demebele After Scoring Against Spurs

Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has sent a message of praise to Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.

The message comes after Dembele scored a wonderful solo goal in Barcelona's eventual 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Tuesday night, which meant both sides qualified from their Champions League group. Aubameyang and Dembele know each other well, following their season together at Borussia Dortmund before their respective moves away.

Aubameyang took to his personal twitter account to praise the youngster, and commended him on his fantastic individual goal. Dembele capitalised on a Kyle Walker-Peters mistake, as he out paced several defenders before cooly sliding the ball past Hugo Lloris.

Dembele and Aubameyang enjoyed a very successful season at Dortmund together in 2016/17. The Frenchman contributed eight goals and 18 assists in 42 games, whilst the Gabonese forward tallied an impressive 38 goals in 41 games.

Dembele assisted Aubameyang ten times in the league in their lone season together, making them the most prolific pair in Europe's top five leagues in the 2016/17 season.

The French forward however, had apparently been struggling to settle at Barcelona after signing in the summer of 2017. Dembele has had several disciplinary problems at the club, having arrived late for training on multiple occasions. This comes amid links between Dembele and both Arsenal and Liverpool

However, this season his form has turned a corner, he has eight goals and four assists in his 19 competitive appearances for his club so far.

Aubameyang sent the Barcelona forward this message following his remarkable goal:

It is not the first time Arsenal fans have got excited about Dembele's potential links to the London club. The Frenchman was spotted out in London with Aubameyang and several of his Arsenal teammates this summer.

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde also praised the youngster following his impressive performance against Spurs

“He scored a great goal,” Valverde said after the game in his press conference. “He showed cold blood, although he ended up quite tired,” adding that the winger's disciplinary problems would be resolved internally.
