The press are claiming that we are close to coughing up around 7 million quid to capture 24 year old French defender Bakary Sagna from Auxerre.
The fee is apparently being thashed out between the two clubs, and the player is allegedly in London to complete the mandatory medical once this has been done.
Sagna is a great prospect, whom Wenger no doubt sees as cover for Eboue and Toure when they disappear off to the ANC mid season.
There is also talk of signing Martins from Newcastle, alhtough there is less substance to these rumours, and the 13 million quid fee is less believable.
