Arsenal lifted the first silverware of the season in emphatic style, after a convincing 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on Sunday afternoon.

The reigning Premier League champions delivered a commanding display, handing new City manager Enzo Maresca a difficult start in his first competitive match in charge.

The Gunners stunned the Citizens within the opening 24 seconds when defender Riccardo Calafiori collected a pass from Myles Lewis-Skelly on the edge of the penalty box and placed a low strike into the bottom corner.

Arsenal doubled their advantage in the 28th minute through Kai Havertz, who finished from close range after fresh signing Christos Tzolis nodded Martin Odegaard cross back across goal.

City looked to respond through Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku, but Arsenal defensive line stood firm.

Three minutes after the restart, captain and player of the match Odegaard sealed the victory with a third goal.

Mikel Arteta's side preserved their clean sheet with composure, carrying strong momentum into their Premier League opener against Coventry City on Friday night.
