It is well-known that Highbury officials have sounded out a number of potential keeper signings but, contrary to suggestions, are not likely to make any imminent moves. England international Seaman is believed to be happy with the offer and is perfectly willing to stay, but he is waiting to see where he fits in at Highbury before he signs a contract extension.
It is hoped that both Seaman and Gunners skipper Tony Adams will both accept the one-year deals they have been offered.
But Seaman is not willing to play out his final year on the bench and the position remains that boss Arsene Wenger has a big decision to make.
At some point he must come to a conclusion as to whether or not Alex Manninger has what it takes to claim the number one spot, if Seaman should continue or if a new man does need to come in.
Arsenal have been working swiftly since the New Year period to secure the futures of various players.
Dennis Bergkamp is set to sign his new two and a half year deal, with Silvinho close to agreeing an extension.
